We’ve done it! We completed our charity bike ride, raising a combined total of £46,000+ and counting!
To celebrate the Hampton’s 20th birthday and to raise funds for work of The Cameron Grant Memorial Trust we cycled from Hampton in Arden to Amsterdam and boy was it a blast.
Over the course of 3 full days our peloton of 32 riders put in back to back solid shifts to ride along the route from Hampton in Arden, Solihull, across to the channel and then on to Amsterdam. The weather was fine and the company even finer!
Take a look at some of the ride highlights!
DAY ONE – Leaving Hampton in Arden!
Day one saw us celebrate The Hampton Health and Fitness Clubs 20th year, with cake, the mayor and festivities. Red Fox Cycling were on hand to give all the riders their briefing and overview of what to expect and what to do. The Mayor then dismissed us with her blessing and we were off! We peddled past Coventry (giving that A4053 Coventry ring road a WIDE birth) with a brief stop for photos and then on to our destination for the evening at the Holiday Inn Kettering, near Corby.

DAY TWO – Corby to Cambridge!
Our second day had a few sore heads post FA Cup Final (no one mention shots ever again), but despite this everyone saddled up and soldiered on! It was a fairly straight shot from Corby across past the back of Huntingdon, Northstowe, and finally coming to rest at the Clayton Hotel Cambridge for a much deserved rest.

DAY THREE – Cambridge to the Coast!
Setting off early on day three from Clayton Hotel Cambridge with slightly heavy legs, the peloton caused through some gorgeous countryside around Haverhill, Clare and Sudbury before passing Dedham Vale National Landscape. Our penultimate stop had us call in to the very friendly folk at Mistly CC, just outside Manningtree. Nothing was too much for these guys, helping us recover, rehydrate and even chipping in and sponsoring us with a donation! Legends (and what a place to play cricket mind you)!
Begrudgingly we pushed on to our luxurious cabins on our overnight Stena Line ferry trip.

DAY FOUR – From ferry to FINISH LINE!
Our spritely riders pushed off from Stena after she dropped us off near Brielle on the Hook of Holland, as we trundled along the coast line enjoying the most glorious sunshine over the sea. The bikeways had us feeling quite spoilt, while every mile was both taxing and energising as we pushed ever closer to the finish line!
After four days of solid toil, we finally arrived at The Grand Hotel Amrâth, Amsterdam, and what a treat this was. The group enjoyed the 5 star accommodation and all that comes with it, refreshing and peeling out of our spandex (what a mental image that is for you), and then hitting the city for a few local delicacies and maybe a beverage or two.

The ride is over – but we are far from FINISHED!
As a group we have raised a huge £46,000+ at the time of writing this, but we have our sights set on hitting £50K and we need your help! If you are able to donate then we would massively appreciate it, if not maybe you could host an event like ours – every little bit helps!

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors
100% of all our money raised we to The Cameron Grant Memorial Trust and that is largely down to our sponsors coving a large amount of the costs and our riders chipping in for the rest.
Without their generous support this event could not have happened, so a heart felt thank you goes to them and their teams.
